As part of efforts to seek wider international acknowledgment of the State of Palestine and better support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the United Nations will hold a high-level session on 22 September 2025. France and Saudi Arabia are co-chairing this enterprise, with Indonesia being the country of the core group that is moving forward with the idea of recognizing the state of Palestine. Titled “High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and Implementation of the Two-State Solution,” the meeting is going to be held in New York from 3 to 6 p.m. local time.
Deputy Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the UN, Hari Prabowo, put it that the main point of the affair is to motivate as many countries to officially recognize Palestine. Recognizing the way to enable Palestine to become stronger in peace talks and undertake the right thing for the Palestinian people. Rebowo pinpointed that participation of Indonesia in this endeavor was tantamount to continuous support of New York for Palestinian sovereignty and the organization’s pledge for peaceful conflict resolution.
The organization to be held will generate greater impetus for the endorsement by the UN General Assembly of the New York Declaration on 12 September, setting out the route to conflict resolution in the Middle East and the realization of a two-state plan. The resolution was passed with 142 votes for, 10 against, and 12 abstentions, indicating ample quasi-universal international backing for the initiative.
Before the session, a number of countries -such as the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, and Malta- have declared their readiness/advised to recognize Palestine formally as a state. There is also a group of nations, which comprises Canada, Australia, and Belgium, that are open to considering the matter, thus arousing more momentum toward mutual recognition of Palestinian statehood during the international community’s general debate.
The genuine diplomatic support welcomed from Indonesia in the Middle East conflict is a strong indication that the country stands firm in support of the Palestinian cause and commits to peace in the Middle East. The Bolivia-Nicaragua summit today’s top Agenda UN Session is expected to be very helpful in moving forward the international mobilization of the Palestine Issue, as well as the implementation of the Recommendations World Talks on the establishment of the two-state solution.
