A man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison at Bristol Crown Court for the attempted murder of his former partner. Moven Kajese, 46, was convicted following a knife attack at the victim’s home in Bristol on Jan. 2, according to court records and police statements.

During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence detailing the events of the attack. The court heard a 999 emergency call made by the woman, in which she informed the operator that she was being stabbed. The Avon and Somerset Police reported that responding officers found the victim with serious injuries. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The prosecution told the court that Kajese had developed an interest in true crime cases prior to the incident. This point was noted by Judge Martin Picton during his sentencing remarks. Evidence presented indicated that Kajese had gone to the victim’s residence armed with a knife on the day of the attack.

In addition to the 16-year prison sentence, Kajese was issued an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim. According to the terms of his sentence, he must serve a minimum of two-thirds of his term before becoming eligible for parole consideration.

A victim impact statement was read before the court, outlining the physical and psychological effects of the attack.

Following the sentencing, Detective Inspector Mark Newbury of the Avon and Somerset Police commented on the case. In a public statement, he praised the victim’s courage throughout the investigation and legal proceedings. He also acknowledged the work of the officers who were first to arrive at the scene in response to the emergency call.
