President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday officially opened the Fourth Session of the Tenth Parliament, outlining his administration’s legislative agenda for the upcoming term. The president delivered the address during a joint sitting of the National Assembly and the Senate at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.

During his speech, Mnangagwa detailed the government’s legislative priorities, which focus on several key sectors including finance, agriculture, health, transport, and justice. He stated that a series of bills covering these areas would be presented to lawmakers for consideration during the session.

According to the official address, the proposed legislation aims to address various aspects of the nation’s governance and economy. The agenda for the justice sector will include bills intended to align with the government’s stated policy objectives.

In his remarks to Parliament, President Mnangagwa affirmed his administration’s position on legal principles. He stated that the government is committed to “the rule of law” and “access to justice.”

Following the president’s address, the proposed bills will be introduced into the legislative process, where they will be debated, amended, and voted upon by members of Parliament.

The event took place at the new parliamentary complex in Mt Hampden, a facility constructed to serve as the new seat of the legislative branch of government. The joint session was attended by members of both houses of Zimbabwe’s bicameral legislature. The specific details and text of the proposed bills are expected to be made public as they are formally tabled for debate.
