BusinessNvidia Stock Reaches Record High; Boeing Union Contract Approved

U.S. stock markets reported gains on Friday, October 2, 2026, with technology company Nvidia’s stock price reaching a new record high. The trading day’s movements occurred as The Boeing Company confirmed a new contract agreement with its engineers’ union, and followed the release of a September jobs report and a reported decline in oil prices.

Major U.S. indices closed higher at the end of the trading session. According to market data, the Nasdaq Composite increased by over 1.5%, the S&P 500 rose approximately 1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained around 0.6%, an increase of about 300 points.

Shares of Nvidia (NVDA) rose more than 2.5%, closing at a record level not seen since mid-May 2026. The increase came after financial services firm Morgan Stanley issued a note reinstating Nvidia as its top pick in the semiconductor sector. According to the note, the decision was informed by recent meetings held with Nvidia’s Chief Executive Officer, Jensen Huang, and Chief Financial Officer, Colette Kress. The development followed a separate announcement from Nvidia earlier in the week regarding board authorization for an additional $150 billion in stock buybacks.

In the aerospace sector, The Boeing Company (BA) and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) reached a four-year contract agreement. The union, which represents white-collar professional and technical workers, approved the company’s proposal on Thursday, averting a potential strike.

Boeing’s stock increased 3.35% on Thursday following the union’s contract approval. On Friday, the stock price experienced a modest decline. The company is also managing a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) review concerning a flight landing software issue related to its 737 Max aircraft. The timeline for the FAA’s response has not been publicly announced.
