Braden Peters, a social media personality known for his “looksmaxxing” content, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to a charge of rape in Orleans District Court. The 20-year-old is accused of providing alcohol to a 17-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her at a family home in Chatham, Massachusetts, in May 2025.
Peters, who uses the online name “Clavicular,” appeared in court for his arraignment. A judge set bail at $10,000, and Peters was ordered to surrender his passport. The terms of his release also prohibit him from contacting the accuser or posting about her on social media. Peters and his legal team did not provide a comment to reporters at the courthouse.
According to court documents, the accuser told police that Peters had been paying her to appear in his online videos. She alleged that during a visit to his family’s home on Cape Cod, he gave her two or three shots of vodka and then livestreamed himself kissing her while she was intoxicated. The accuser stated to police that she later woke up to find Peters sexually assaulting her.
Through his lawyers, Peters has denied the allegations. His legal representatives have stated that the sexual encounter was consensual.
Peters has more than one million followers on Instagram. His content, part of an online subculture known as “looksmaxxing,” often features hours-long livestreams where he rates individuals’ physical appearances and discusses methods for altering one’s looks, which he has said can include cosmetic surgery and drug use.
The Massachusetts case is not Peters’ first encounter with law enforcement. Earlier this year in Florida, he was charged with misdemeanor battery after police said he provoked a fight between two women and then posted a video of the incident online. That charge was later dropped. In a separate Florida case, Peters was sentenced to probation after he pleaded no contest to a charge of firing a gun in public.
The Associated Press, which provided initial reporting on the arraignment, follows a policy of generally not naming individuals who report being victims of sexual assault.
