CVC Names Sisitsky, Rutland Co-CEOs for 2028 Leadership Transition

BusinessCVC Names Sisitsky, Rutland Co-CEOs for 2028 Leadership Transition

Private equity firm CVC Capital Partners announced on Wednesday a leadership succession plan, naming TPG executive Todd Sisitsky and CVC partner Peter Rutland as its next co-Chief Executive Officers. The appointments will take effect in the first quarter of 2028, coinciding with the departure of current CEO Rob Lucas, who will transition to the role of non-executive chair.

The announcement outlines a long-term transition for the firm, which recently completed its initial public offering on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange in April. The leadership structure will combine an external hire from a major competitor with a long-standing internal partner.

Sisitsky currently serves as President of TPG, a U.S.-based private equity firm, where he has worked for nearly two decades. His responsibilities at TPG include managing its global investing businesses. According to TPG, he has been involved in investments across the healthcare, software, and financial services sectors.

Rutland is a Managing Partner at CVC and serves as the head of its financial services group. He joined the firm in 2007 and has held several senior roles, overseeing investments within the financial and business services industries.

The transition plan allows for a multi-year handover from Lucas, who has been with CVC for 28 years and served as its CEO since 2017. In a statement released by the company, Lucas commented on the selection of his successors.

“Peter and Todd are exceptional investors and leaders who have been instrumental in CVC’s success,” Lucas stated. “They both have the experience, skills, and vision to lead CVC into the next phase of its development.”

The company’s co-founders also issued a statement on the plan. “Planning for the long-term success of CVC is one of our most important responsibilities,” they said. “The appointment of Peter and Todd to lead the firm in the future is the culmination of a thoughtful and deliberate process.”

CVC Capital Partners, founded in 1981, is a global alternative investment manager focused on private equity, secondaries, and credit. The firm reported managing approximately €184 billion in assets as of its latest financial disclosures. The Wednesday announcement did not specify any immediate changes to the firm’s strategy or operations.
