Orlando Pirates FC has confirmed that winger Daniel Msendami will rejoin his former club, Marumo Gallants, on a season-long loan. The move marks a return to the Limpopo-based team for the Zimbabwean international, who transferred to Pirates in January of this year.
Msendami, 25, joined Orlando Pirates midway through the 2023-2024 season. During his tenure with the Soweto-based club, he made a limited number of first-team appearances, primarily as a substitute. In that period, Orlando Pirates secured two domestic cup trophies.
The loan agreement facilitates Msendami’s return to a club where he previously had a notable spell. Prior to his transfer to the DStv Premiership, Msendami was a key player for Marumo Gallants, having initially joined them from Zimbabwean club Highlanders FC.
Marumo Gallants currently competes in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the second tier of South African football, following their relegation from the top-flight DStv Premiership at the end of the 2022-2023 season. The club has not released an official statement detailing its objectives for Msendami’s loan period. Similarly, Orlando Pirates’ announcement focused on the logistics of the transfer without providing further commentary on the player’s development or future role.
The transaction is one of several roster adjustments made by both clubs during the current transfer window. Player loans are a common practice in professional football, allowing players to gain more consistent playing time while parent clubs retain their long-term contractual rights. Msendami remains under contract with Orlando Pirates beyond the term of the loan.
