Global mining and trading company Glencore PLC will proceed with a secondary listing on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) next week, company officials confirmed. CEO Gary Nagle said on Friday that the company expects investor interest tied to the global trend of electrification.
Speaking to reporters, Nagle stated the listing would offer investors direct exposure to Glencore’s portfolio of commodities, which are integral to energy transition technologies. The company is a significant global producer of copper, cobalt, nickel, and zinc—metals used in manufacturing electric vehicles, battery storage systems, and other renewable energy infrastructure.
“We expect strong demand from investors seeking exposure to the trend toward electrification,” Nagle said during the media call.
The listing on the ASX will be Glencore’s secondary listing, as its primary listing remains on the London Stock Exchange. Company statements clarified that the process will be conducted through depositary interests and is not intended to raise new capital.
Nagle also commented on the company’s presence in Australia, suggesting that a deeper integration into the local market could present future business opportunities. He specified, however, that Glencore does not currently have a “set buyout list” or predetermined acquisition targets related to the listing.
Glencore maintains substantial operations in Australia, where it is a major producer of coal, copper, nickel, and zinc. The company’s assets are located across several states, including significant mining operations in Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia. The Australian arm of the business is a key part of its global industrial asset portfolio.
The listing is scheduled to be finalized in the upcoming week, providing a new avenue for regional investors to trade the company’s stock.
