A Los Angeles woman was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing ketamine that resulted in the death of actor Matthew Perry. The sentencing of Jasveen Sangha, 42, took place in a federal court following her guilty plea last September.
According to court records, Sangha pleaded guilty to five federal charges, which included one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury. This charge directly connected her actions to the passing of Perry, who was known for his role in the television series “Friends.”
Perry, 54, was found deceased at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28, 2023. In a report released in December 2023, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Perry’s death was caused by the acute effects of ketamine. The report also listed drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine as contributing factors.
The investigation into the source of the ketamine found in Perry’s system led authorities to Sangha. Federal prosecutors presented evidence that Sangha supplied the drugs involved in the actor’s death.
The sentence concludes a federal case that drew public attention due to its connection with the high-profile actor. Details from the prosecution’s filings outlined the circumstances of the drug distribution leading up to the incident. Sangha will serve her sentence in a federal correctional facility.
