Leaders from prominent artificial intelligence firms are scheduled to speak at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi this week, as global markets continue to react to the technology’s potential effects on various industries. The summit occurs after weeks of stock market volatility in sectors including software, credit, transport, and real estate.
Key speakers expected at the event include Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic; Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft; Arthur Mensch, co-founder of Mistral AI; and Alexandr Wang, CEO of Scale AI. The summit will bring together industry figures to discuss AI developments and their applications.
In the weeks leading up to the summit, several companies, particularly in Europe, experienced significant stock price fluctuations. According to market data, French software company Dassault Systemes saw its largest one-day share drop on record, while RELX, a British analytics group, recorded its most substantial session decline since 1988. Wealth management firms, including St James’s Place, Aberdeen Group, and Quilter, also reported notable stock losses during this period.
Financial analysts have offered differing views on the market movements. In a recent research note, analysts at UBS attributed the sell-off to a “growing disruption” that is “accelerating well beyond software.” The Swiss bank’s report suggested that markets have not fully accounted for the credit implications and stated an expectation that this risk could increase through 2026 and into 2027 in the U.S. and Europe.
Conversely, Dan Ives of Wedbush, an investment firm, offered a different perspective during an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box Europe.” Ives stated that the “software Armageddon is overblown,” expressing the view that established companies like Salesforce and ServiceNow will be “core participants of the AI revolution, rather than cannibalized by it.”
The New Delhi summit is positioned to be a focal point for the technology sector. According to a report from CNBC, which will be covering the event, observers anticipate announcements related to partnerships and collaborations between technology firms and the Indian government. The report noted that India’s large consumer base and engineering talent pool are factors attracting technology companies to the region.
