PoliticsPoland Investigates Reported Threat Against PM Tusk & Defence Minister

Authorities in Poland confirmed on Sunday they are investigating a reported threat made against Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. The confirmation came after police received information about a potential plot, which prompted an emergency meeting of security officials in Warsaw.

On October 11, Interior Ministry spokesperson Karolina Galecka announced in a statement on social media that the ministry had ordered “action to be taken in this matter.” She also confirmed that an emergency meeting would take place that day involving representatives from the police, the State Protection Service (SOP), and the Interior Ministry to address the situation. The SOP is the government agency responsible for the security of high-level state officials.

Following the meeting, Jacek Dobrzynski, a spokesperson for the special services, told reporters that officials were treating the information as “serious,” according to reports from local media. Private news outlet Polsat News also reported that Dobrzynski stated further action had been decided upon during the meeting, but he did not provide any specific details.

The initial information regarding the threat was reportedly delivered to police in an email, according to a report from private broadcaster Radio Zet. Officials have not publicly disclosed the contents of the email or commented on its origin.

As of Sunday evening, neither Prime Minister Tusk nor Defence Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, had issued a public statement regarding the investigation. Authorities have not released further information about the nature of the alleged plot or identified any individuals or groups potentially involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
